The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation has named the Town of Saugerties a recipient of a $100,000 matching grant toward the construction of a state of the art skate park facility at the nationally recognized Cantine Veterans' Memorial Complex. The Town of Saugerties has dedicated 1 acre of the 127-acre recreational facility for the construction of the park, scheduled for completion in the fall of 2008. The planned skate park will provide a friendly and inviting environment for skating and biking enthusiasts, with an emphasis on safety. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month in the small room of the Frank D. Greco Senior Center located on Market Street in Saugerties. We are selling raffle tickets and tee shirts. For now both of these items can be purchased at Smith's Hardware (we will be sellling them at the Bike Shop as well- just not yet) Forms for the "bricks" and "pavers": $50 & $100 John Kahn built a big skateboard - a VERY big skateboard.
